This idea is to keep the internal layout of individual DICOM sessions datasets pristine re traditions of individual brain imaging facilities. But at the same time to not require the usage of internal identifiers for addressing individual sessions, but instead use (Q01) pseudonymized IDs. This is different from the previous approach, which heavily relied on an executable pseudonymization procedure that is used in all relevant workflows that require mapping. The new approach is simpler, because it requires only a one-time pseudonymization as the level of linking individual session datasets to the study superdataset. Subsequently, only plain paths are needed, which are already pseudonymized.
